About Sarga Pottery
My name is Diuli, and I am the hands behind Sarga Pottery, a small studio tucked away in the vibrant city of Hyderabad.
Sarga (सर्ग) is a Sanskrit word that has many meanings, one of which is ‘creation.’ This word exactly describes what I do everyday and what I want to do for as long as I’m alive - create. My closest friend suggested it to me when we were discussing names for my studio and we instantly knew that it was perfect!

Breaking down the logo, simplicity was extremely important to me. I wanted a logo that was easy to read and also described what I do. As I primarily work on the pottery wheel, I wanted that incorporated in the logo - that’s the reason you see the spiral in both the Hindi and English logos.
I fire primarily in an electric kiln, though I absolutely love the unpredictable magic of gas and wood firing whenever the opportunity arises.
I take great pride in formulating my own glazes. You’ll find my pieces often bridge two worlds:
- Vibrant, spirited colors that celebrate life
- Grounded, earthy tones that honour the clay itself
For me, everything comes back to balance.
Life before Sarga:
For many years, my life looked very different. With an MBA in International Business and a 16-year career in the corporate world, I navigated a path that was successful on paper but left a quiet, persistent longing in my heart. I always knew I was meant to build something of my own—to work with my hands and create something tangible—but "life happened," and it took me over a decade to find the courage to finally listen to that inner whisper.
On March 31, 2022, I took the leap. I spent a year searching, exploring everything from dog training to Lippan art. But the moment I sat at a pottery wheel, I knew I had come home.

How it started:
Pottery is more than a craft to me; it is a teacher. It makes me feel free, it humbles me, and offers a profound lesson in the delicate dance of knowing when to hold on and when to let go.
After an intensive residency at Anvi Pottery in 2023, my fascination turned into a lifelong pursuit. Today, my work ranges from functional everyday ware to expressive sculptural forms.
My inspiration:
My drive to create is woven into my DNA. I grew up in Banaras (or, Varanasi/Kashi, if you will), watching village potters spin magic out of mud on traditional wheels. That early fascination was nurtured by the two men who shaped me most:
- My Grandfather: Who started a business from a tiny room in his home, repairing fans until he built a legacy. He taught me the grit required to build a dream from the ground up
- My Father: An engineer by trade but a creative at heart. He was a man of curiosity, an avid reader, and a lover of his Royal Enfields. He always insisted I assist him in his projects, teaching me to be hands-on and to learn "on the job." He loved Hindi and English literature and language, and music. One of the most important things that he taught me while growing up - never take anything at its face value and always question status-quo
I believe Sarga Pottery is the culmination of their influence—a blend of entrepreneurial spirit and a deep, restless curiosity.
Welcome to my little world - a world where creation will never stop!
