FAQs
Are ceramics unbreakable?
Yes! All ceramics are fragile. They are brittle in nature so they can crack, chip, shatter if they fall or on sudden impact (includes sudden temperature changes). Stoneware and Porcelain are more durable compared to earthenware but as it is clay, it is prone to breakage and scratches.
Who makes the ceramic wares at Sarga Pottery?
Sarga Pottery is a small pottery studio owned by me, Diuli Sah (she/her). Everything that you see on the website and on my social media pages are made by me. I also makes glazes on my own.
Are all mid-fire ceramics dishwasher-safe?
No, not all of them. Ceramics have to be tested in the dishwasher many times to decide whether they are safe to be washed in the dishwasher or not. I try to test all the wares I make in the dishwasher by using a non-abrasive detergent and making sure that the wares do not touch each other while inside the dishwasher. Unless specified, please hand wash your ceramics with a mild detergent and a soft sponge to ensure longevity and avoid scratches.
Are all ceramics microwave-safe?
No, not all of them. Earthenware (or, popularly known as terracotta) is porous and can crack if subjected to the heat of the microwave. While all my glazes are food-safe and the clay body is vitrified, I do not own a microwave (I don't like the heat of the microwave - too sharp and unnatural for me), hence, I can't test the wares that I make in it. If you decide to put my ceramic wares in the microwave, it is at your own risk and Sarga Pottery does not take responsibility for any damage in that process.
Do you host pottery classes?
No, I don't. As I'm the one running the studio, I can't take time out for running pottery classes. I am focussed on making my craft better each day.
Do you ship internationally?
While international shipping is unavailable on the website at the moment, please write to sargapottery@gmail.com in case you're interested in buying any of our ceramic wares. I'll be happy to figure out a solution.
I want to place a custom order but I don't see that option on your website. How do I place a custom order with you?
Please write to sargapottery@gmail.com with the details of your request and I would be happy to discuss and take the conversation further.
Do you exhibit your works in galleries?
Not yet, but I would love to. Please write to sargapottery@gmail.com for further discussion on this topic.
