This stunning, wheelthrown, wide-neck moon jar evokes the tranquil beauty of the ocean with its unique glaze and elegant form. The surface is coated in a serene, blue-green glaze that shifts from the deep, cool tones of the sea floor at the base to a lighter, frothy blue-green at the base. The glaze is applied intentionally to mimic the ocean waves. The inside is a dark brown glaze, with moon-like craters. It’s a versatile piece that looks beautiful with a fresh floral arrangement or as a standalone sculpture on a bookshelf, bringing a calming, artistic presence to any room.
This vase was made with white stoneware clay on the pottery wheel and was fired to 1,200 degrees centigrade. The glaze is non-toxic. Handwash highly recommended with a mild detergent and a soft sponge.
