This serving platter reminds me of Aladdin's magic carpet! The body features a ribbed, undulating surface that adds depth and visual movement to the piece, while the white glaze combined with the speckles all over the platter (the result of the high iron content in the clay body that surfaced during the reduction process) provides a natural, "salt and pepper" aesthetic.
This platter was made with buff stoneware clay on the pottery wheel and handbuilding technique and was fired to 1,200 degrees centigrade in a reduction atmosphere. The glaze is food-safe. Handwash highly recommended with a mild detergent and soft sponge.
